Biography
Jack Chapel is an applied economist studying topics in health and labor economics. His current research is focused on the social determinants of health disparities and how health impacts economic outcomes, particularly in a context of population aging and rising chronic disease prevalence.
Jack earned a PhD in economics from the University of Southern California (2024) and BS in economics from Tulane University (2015). He has worked in academic and government research settings such as the USC Schaeffer Center, USC Center for Economic and Social Research, and the US Department of Labor. Prior to joining USC, Jack spent five years as a Research Fellow at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where his research focused on economic evaluations of public health programs.
