Biography

Stephanie Hedt is Director of External Affairs at the USC Schaeffer Institute for Public Policy & Government Service. She oversees a strategy spanning communications, events, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring the institute’s work reaches policymakers, media, and healthcare leaders. She works closely with research, policy, and advancement teams to elevate Schaeffer’s portfolio and strengthen its position as a leading voice in policy solutions that are evidence-based.

Since joining Schaeffer, she has taken on increasing leadership responsibility, building and managing a growing team and establishing systems to expand the institute’s reach and impact.

Her background spans nonprofit administration, program management, and public policy research, including work in early childhood education programs, national service programs, refugee resettlement and food security initiatives. She also contributed to CDC-funded research on public health interventions in South Los Angeles.

She holds bachelor’s degrees in communication and anthropology from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in public policy from the USC Price School of Public Policy.
