Biography

Ryan Long has over 25 years of Capitol Hill and health policy experience.  He was a Senior Policy Advisor and Counsel to Speaker Kevin McCarthy during his rise from House Minority Leader to Speaker of the House.

Long began his career in 1998 working for Representative Charlie Norwood of Georgia. In 1999 he began working for Representative Joe Barton of Texas as a Legislative Assistant before being promoted Legislative Director. He joined the House Committee on Energy and Commerce in 2004 and served as the Chief Health Counsel from 2006 to the beginning of 2013 under both Chairman Barton and Chairman Fred Upton. In 2018, Long became Deputy Staff Director then Staff Director under Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden, and by 2021 he had become a top advisor to the eventual Speaker of the House.

Ryan Long is the Director of Congressional Relations and a Senior Research Fellow at Paragon Health Institute. He is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America.
