Biography
Daniel Turner is Director of Research in the Office of Gordon and Sarah Brown and leads research into place-based economic policy and the rise of anti-system politics.
Daniel graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics before entering the Civil Service for the UK Government, where he was delivery lead for Local Industrial Strategies. He went on to earn an MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School, where he was a Frank Knox Memorial Scholar and led a research programme into regional economic policy and inequality in the UK, advising the previous Conservative and current Labour UK governments on their approach and serving as Senior Adviser to the Mayor of South Yorkshire.
Daniel was previously Director of Research for the Centre for Progressive Policy, and his policy, academic and editorial writing has featured in The Times, The Guardian, The Financial Times, The Scotsman and The Economist.
