Michael Sobolev, PhD

Biography

Michael Sobolev, PhD, is a behavioral scientist and technologist whose work bridges behavioral design, data science, and digital health. He earned his PhD from the Faculty of Data and Decision Sciences at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in 2017 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship and lectureship in Computer and Information Science at Cornell Tech. Dr. Sobolev has led digital innovation initiatives at Northwell Health, where he helped design and evaluate a digital clinic, and at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he founded the behavioral design unit. His research focuses on (1) designing intelligent systems for behavior change, (2) understanding and optimizing engagement with mobile health technologies, and (3) examining the sociotechnical dimensions of technology in healthcare. Through collaborations with startups and nonprofits, Dr. Sobolev seeks to translate behavioral insights into human-centered technologies that enhance health and well-being.
