Organization Overview
UsAgainstAlzheimer’s (UsA2) is a nonprofit patient advocacy organization founded in 2010 with a mission to end Alzheimer’s disease. UsA2 works to empower individuals, families, and communities, to engage in Alzheimer’s research, treatment and advocacy. UsA2 places a strong focus on reaching populations that have historically been underrepresented in research and care. In addition to advocating for federal investment in Alzheimer’s research and care, UsA2 leads several advocacy initiatives and develops consumer-focused tools that support brain health awareness and access to clinical trials.
Clinical Trial Recruitment Resource
BrainGuide is UsA2’s free, confidential brain health platform. Available in English and Spanish, the platform offers validated memory questionnaires that can be completed either by individuals concerned about their own memory or by caregivers assessing someone else’s cognitive health.
BrainGuide uses clinically validated assessment tools, including the Memory Impairment Screen (MIS/MIS-T), developed by Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and the AD8 Dementia Screening Interview, developed by Washington University. These tools help users better understand memory concerns and identify appropriate next steps and resources.
In July 2025, UsA2 launched the BrainGuide Clinical Trial Connector in partnership with Carebox. The Clinical Trial Connector helps individuals and caregivers identify and connect with clinical trials for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. By integrating trial matching into the broader BrainGuide experience, the platform provides a direct pathway from brain health assessment to research participation opportunities.

Discussion
BrainGuide bridges a critical gap: millions of Americans worry about their memory but do not know where to turn. By offering free, accessible online memory assessments in English and Spanish, BrainGuide reaches individuals who may not otherwise engage with specialty healthcare systems or academic medical centers.
When a user’s assessment indicates potential memory concerns, BrainGuide connects them to relevant resources, including the BrainGuide Clinical Trial Connector. The partnership with Carebox brings real-time trial matching capability directly into the BrainGuide user journey, representing a significant evolution of the platform’s role in recruitment.
